Two hought about the subject - If we look at the main event (10,000$ buy-in) it was 'sold out'. Even a star as Patrik Antonius couldn't enter because it was full. Yes, it's the main event but still.. it shows people want to play WSOP tournaments. I believe the management of WSOP knows that many events might make the series less exclusive (as you wrote) but it's about making money and with many events they will make more money, simple as that. If we look at the main event (10,000$ buy-in) it was ’sold out’. Even a star as Patrik Antonius couldn’t enter because it was full. Yes, it’s the main event but still.. it shows people want to play WSOP tournaments.
I believe the management of WSOP knows that many events might make the series less exclusive (as you wrote) but it’s about making money and with many events they will make more money, simple as that.

It allows amateur players to participate in big events and have a (low) chance to play in the final table.
